MFA Grant 2021

Overview

In view of the financial challenges students faced during the extended pandemic lock-downs, Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation gave a special grant - the MFA Grant 2021 - as a way supporting the student community. The grant supported final year MFA students from two institutions which Mrinalini Mukherjee called her alma mater - the Faculty of Fine Arts at MS University of Baroda, and Kala Bhavan at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan.

A total of 86 students from Baroda and 50 students from Santiniketan doing their final year received a one-time stipend of Rs. 10,000 each, which went towards purchasing material and other work related expenses to continue their practice.

Testimonials from some grantees

I am so happy to share about emergency grant by Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation. When I received this valuable art grant all world was under the pandamic period. As a student of that duration of time was highly difficult to survive in life with art . After receiving the grant I had done a new format of art work, that I exhibited at a group show..... it will be a life long memory. Thank you Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation for giving me a valuable grant in dark times.

When Covid-19 started I returned home from Santiniketan and attended classes online. It was horrible since Covid has started, compelling me to be stuck inside my home. As a student, it was difficult to continue my practice because of financial and psychological (hardships). When I heard about the grant I was quite happy because from that grant I could invest in my practice.

First of all thank you Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation for supporting me in those difficult times.I spent the fund to purchase some tools like drill machine, heat gun, and various art materials such as colors sketch books etc. All of these materials really helped me to enhance my art works and the tools open new doors to think creative and I am still using it.
